Operation Management of Copper Kettle Catering †Free Samples

Question: Discuss about the Operation Management of Copper Kettle Catering. Answer: Products and Services of Copper Kettle Catering Copper Kettle Catering (CKC) is a catering company and they have segmented their service into two categories. In case of the delivery only category, they serve sandwiches, salads, desserts, and fruits. All these foods are prepared by their in-house cooks and food preparation workers though they purchase dessert from outside vendors. However, in case of delivering and serve side a full section of 6-8 course dinner and luncheon with some special request items will be available from CKC. The service is entirely based on the grand parties of birthdays, wedding and all so a profligate menu needs to be demanded from the customers. The company has hot and cold food presentation at the same time. CKC has the service facility or calls for delivery through customer has to call by 10 am at morning; along with they serve the entire big budget parties as well. After being a small organization they have tried to execute some essential services in this competitive business market to sustain their b usiness. Challenges of operation management The major challenge in this kind of small business is the promotion. The company doesnt have the opportunity to sell their product and services through promotion. People may taste the food or have taken the service can offer others to take that, but this will be a time-consuming process to stand a business. In most of the cases, business outcomes are depending on the promotional management and operational process of marketing a product is liable for that reason (Slack, 2015). Another challenge the company has faced is employees. There are 10 in-house permanent employees of CKC. In case of making any standard market in Malaysia, the strength of existing employees is very much needed. Employees are needed for the call on delivery. If more employees are accessible to the company then the company can deliver their food for the whole day. They do not have to shut their phone line off after 10 am. Same day delivery can possible at 8 or 9 at night also. So the changed scenario will be appearing if the amalgamation of employees will be persisted in CKC. For employees engagement, work over recruitment and selection is also important as the company has to choose right people for the right place so that effective outcome will come as a result (Jacobs, Chase Lummus, 2014). The most impactful challenge faces by the company is the versatility of food and resources. Most of the big hospitality sectors know that how to present any service and that is the big challenge for CKC. The company has limited inventory stocks and most of the times resources are not available. In order to match high-quality food, accessible in the market CKC has to enhance their versatility of foods (Peng Lai, 2012). CKC needs to start delivery of main course foods in the delivery only process. Where customers can call up for the lunch or dinner and employees will go and deliver the food to them. Proposals to overcome those challenges The challenges are always there in case of this kind of business as the competition in catering company is always high. Innovative process, design, and thinking will be there for each company (Subramanian Ramanathan, 2012). In that situation, these small companies have to survive their existence through most innovative or effective way-outs. Free of cost food delivery and deliver discount on every food item will enhance their market in Malaysia. People will love to have discounts and as well as free service from them. This is the initial level when they have to deliver such quality foods that will not possible for any catering organization to deliver at such low price. The promotion is also important in that case so that company can make a good position in the market, so the use of print media is also important for this business (Cat, 2018). Another recommendation is dealing with the flexibility of food order. Most of the cater organization run for a speculated time. If CKC offers all time food then the customer can order their food anytime. Mobile payment option will be there and they can pay the amount at the time of receiving the food. They need a good amount of employees also, in that situation they can allow a new bunch of people and recruit them as the basis of delivery income, that means as per the delivery they can get their extra amount of money. Shift timing for employees will be there as well and that will enhance the market position of CKC. Therefore, these are the possible recommendation that can mitigate some of the operational problem faced by the company. Demand for the customer and quality food service will enhance the penetrative business zone and make a sustainable position in the competitive catering business (Handfield Bozarth, 2012).
